OSA: Odisha Society of New England celebrated 74th Independence Day with a virtual event out of Odisha

Odisha Society of New England celebrated 74th Independence Day with a virtual event out of Odisha. The program, very aptly called “Ama desha ama mati, ame sabu Ekathi” was opened by Indian consulate general, New York, Mr Randhir Jaiswal with a congratulatory message.

It was followed by another heartfelt message by MP Amar Pattnaik of Rajya sabha after opening speech by OSNE President Debadutta Behera and Secretary Manabesh Das.

This was an all rounded event with soulful singing by Shasank Sekhar and Arpita Choudhury, hilarious comedy by Pappu Pom Pom and mesmerizing dance by Harihar Dash and his dance partner Santosh. Ramesh on Piano, Suresh on guitar and RamKrushna on octapad were amazing. Live video editing was done by Buna Vision. Somesh Satapathy from Somesh Studio made it possible for all the artists to come together and give such wonderful performances.

Shashank and Arpita started off the event with the national anthem and a few other patriotic songs and followed it up with Odia and Hindi hit numbers. They also sang a few songs as tribute to late actors Bijoy Mohanty and Sushant Singh Rajput. Harihar’s dance on Kesari, Na tum jano na hum and Muquabla were spellbinding. Comedy session by Papu Pom Pom was, as expected, rib-tickling. The unique songs written and sung by him were hysterically funny.

The beautiful evening ended with vote of thanks by OSNE Vice President Pankaj Panda and Editor Reema Patnaik. Large number of viewers from North America, Europe, and Asia joined in virtually to watch the Facebook live event organized by non resident Odias paying respect to mother land.
