Suman Sourav Mohanty, 31 year-old, a mechanical engineering graduate, secured rank 9 in the civil services examinations-2016, the results of which was announced by the Union Public Services Commission UPSC on Wednesday.
Mohanty an Indian Revenue Services officer had earlier qualified Odisha Civil Services and served in Kandhamal district for six months before he secured rank 413 in the Indian civil services examination last year.
Mohanty passed BTech from KIIT University in mechanical engineering from 2008 and worked for Reliance Energy and Odisha government’s public health department.
Apart from Mohanty three others from Odisha have also scored among the 1099 candidates including 846 men and 253 women in the merit list. The successful candidates from the state included Abhisant Panda (rank 91), who is the son of Odisha cadre IAS officer Arun Panda. Subhankar Mohapatra and Suchismita Kanungo from Odisha have secured rank 255 and 261respectively .
