KIIT MUN – A Journey from Dream to Reality : blog by Manaswita Saha

For great ideas and plausible resolutions, one needs interactions, arguments and debates. The KIIT MUN Society is an exemplary representation of the same, true to its name. Founded by the ambitious Snehadeep Kayet, Ashesh Das and Siddhant Sadangi of KIIT Deemed to be University in the idyllic city of Bhubaneswar, the society has, since its inception, kept the fire of diplomacy and debate flaming. It is the first and the oldest MUN society in the country. The year of foundation of the KIIT MUN Society saw a revolution in the MUN circuit of the nation. By coordinating the KIIT MUN 2013, the society grabbed the limelight of most potential and enthusiastic MUNers across the country. The inaugural year saw a turnover of around one thousand participants.

With its pragmatic administration, the conferences have been highly acclaimed in the MUN circuit across India. It has created its own worth and delegates from across the country have taken active part in the KIIT MUN throughout the years hence setting the publicity of the University on roll. The KIIT International MUN was also the first to get mapped in International MUN calendar among the other MUN conferences in India. The KIIT MUN society was the first MUN society in the country to get its place in Wikipedia.

The fifth edition of KIIT MUN with the slogan “Riseth the Glory” rose to that point of eminence which was once considered unachievable. 2017 saw 18 committees hosted by the veteran Executive Board members, breathtaking debates and mammoth research. The award-winning Indian film-maker Mrs Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari also graced the event. She talked about the importance of following one’s dream; as well as by Mr Sergio Arispe Barrientos – the Bolivian Ambassador to India; along with Punya Prasun Bajpai, The Executive Editor at AajTak.

This year, team KIIT MUN desires to widen its outreach so as to set a benchmark for the future editions of the KIIT International MUN. KIIT International MUN has been at par with Ivily University of Oxford in the context of MUN conferences administered. The cultural exchange that takes place every year during the three days of conference makes KIIT MUN one of the most phenomenal event in India. No other event hosted by KIIT creates such a platform for students to exchange their ideas and talk about prospective solutions. With simulation of a conglomerate of 20 committees, and a footfall of estimated 1500 delegates and international press members, the sixth edition of our flagship event is going to create a niche of its own. The Secretariat of KIIT International MUN 2018 is also proud to host Rahul Subramaniam as the guest performer of the event. With our utmost dedication and sincerity, we look forward to carry on the legacy of making KIIT International MUN the largest MUN conference in India, and one of the largest in the continent of Asia.
