A village committee in Ganjam district has fined 60 people for defecating in the open.
The village committee of Kandigaon under Kanheipur gram panchayat in Khallikote block formed a squad four months ago to keep strict vigil on the persons who defy committee order saying relieving in the open is a punishable offence. The step has been initiated following the Swachh Bharat mission initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
As a constructive step towards Swachh Bharat, a village committee in Ganjam district has imposed fine on as many as 60 persons for defecating in the open.
