CM inaugurates Adaptive Traffic Signal Control System, lays foundation stones of four other Smart City projects

In a significant push for various smart city projects in Bhubaneswar, Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated solar powered Adaptive Traffic Signal Control system on Sachivalaya Marg and laid foundation stones of four other smart city projects.

The projects for which foundation stones have been laid include Smart Janpath – redesigning of existing road spanning from VaniVihar Square to SishuBhavan Square, two Multi-Level Car Parking projects at Saheed Nagar and Unit II area and Integrated Public Service Building at Saheed Nagar. Total cost of all these projects are estimated at Rs. 176 crores.

Hon’ble Minister for Housing and Urban Development Shri NiranjanPujari, Hon’ble MP Dr. Prasanna Kumar Patasani, Hon’ble MLA, Bhubaneswar (Centre) Shri Bijaya Kumar Mohanty, Hon’ble MLA, Bhubaneswar (North) Shri Priyadarshi Mishra, Hon’ble Mayor Shri Ananta Narayan Jena, Hon’ble Dy. Mayor Smt. K Shanti, senior Officers of BMC & Bhubaneswar Smart City Ltd, chairpersons of various standing committees of BMC, and respective corporators were also present on the occasion.

Smart Janpath Project:

 Site Length: 5.5 km (From VaniVihar square to Sishubhawan square)

 Estimated Cost: Rs. 80.47 crores

 Project Duration: 24 months

 Project Details: Redesigning and redevelopment of existing roadway through smart interventions and allocation of equitable space for all users with special focus on pedestrian.

 

Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP), Unit II:

 Area: 0.972 acres

 Estimated Cost: Rs. 46.79 crores

 Project Duration: 18 months

 Minimum Equivalent Car Space (ECS) – 450 nos

 Minimum commercial area: 57,000 sq. ft.

 

Solar-based Adaptive Traffic Signal Control System:

 Total Project Cost: Rs. 14.69 crores

 Project Duration: 9 months

 Project Details:

 Total 58 intersections to be covered under this project using CoSiCoST Technology of CDAC.

 Presently implemented at five pilot junctions along Sachivalaya Marg (Housing Board Square, Institution of Engineers Square, Nicco Park Square, Regional Institute of Education Square and Anand Bazar Square.

 

Key benefits include improvement of travel time reliability; reduction in congestion by creating smoother flow across intersections, faster response to traffic conditions and emergencies, support predicting traffic volumes & adjust signal timings to match these.

 

Integrated Public Service Centre (IPSC) Building:

 Total Cost: Rs. 3.5 crore

 Area: 0.30 acres; Built-up: 13084 sq. ft.

 Project Duration: 12 months

 Project Details: Based on ‘one space – multiple uses’ concept, the IPSC building is envisaged to have bill payment centre, dispensary, crèche cum community group space, ward office, multi-purpose hall, skilling centre, digital learning centre & library cum reading room.

 

Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP), Saheed Nagar:

 Area: 0.75 acres

 Estimated Cost: Rs. 30.95 crores

 Minimum Equivalent Car Space (ECS) –250 nos

 Minimum commercial area: 38,000 sq. ft.

 Project Duration: 12 months
