Indian Railways has expedited the work of the Bhubaneswar New railway station on the outskirts of the city which is being developed as a satellite station of the existing one. The new station has been planned in view of the heavy traffic at the main station.
It will have nine rail lines and seven platforms along with two foot over bridges. Work on the station will be completed by December end.
The new station, around 14km from the existing one near Master Canteen, is situated between Mancheswar and Barang stations. It is only 1.5km from Nandankanan Zoo by road.
