Buddhist Tourism Sites in Odisha Ratnagiri Udaygiri – Video

Ratnagiri and Udayagiri are well-known Mahayana-Vajrayana Buddhist sites in Coastal Odisha. Both the sites have preserved splendid monasteries, stupas, votive stupas and a large number of sculptures of Mahayana-Vajrayana deities.

However what draws the immediate attention is the colossal Buddha images found within the monasteries. Many of them are just the serene heads possessing the Gupta iconographic features, such as long noses, broad leafs, broad closed eyes and soft curl hairs with usnisa, broad hands and long noses. An important aspect of the complete images is that all are seated in bhumisparsa mudra.
