Parichay Foundation organised the 3rd edition of Shrie Awards on the eve of Fathers’ Day on June 16

Parichay Foundation organised the 3rd edition of Shrie Awards on the eve of Fathers’ Day on June 16 at Hotel Crown.

Eminent journalist and Padma Bhusan recipient Shri Prabhu Chawla graced the third edition of Parichay Foundation as the Chief Guest and gave away the awards to all men achievers, chosen from different fields. Shri Prabhu Chawla was all praise of the exemplary work being done by the foundation to bring about a difference in the lives of underprivileged women and children and also appreciated the unique initiative taken up by Parichay to felicitate men achievers.

A Fathers’ Day special panel discussion was also organised with four achievers of Odisha- Renowned Ollywood Actor and MLA Korei Constituency Akash Das Nayak; Winner of Indian Idol Junior (Season 2) Ananya Sritam Nanda; Director, RUCHI & FROZIT Rashmi Sahoo and Indian classical dancer, choreographer, model and internationally renowned Odissi dancer Saswat Joshi along with their fathers.

The awardees, selected on the basis of suggestions of all executive and committee members of Parichay and awardees from previous years include both renowned and eminent men achievers as well as those who have made significant social impact in their own spheres but stayed away from limelight.

Sarat Kumar Sahoo – Lifetime Achievement Award

He is the man who had spiced up our lives. Literally. Sarat Kumar Sahoo, Managing Director of Om Oil & Flour Mills Ltd is popular as the man who gave Odisha the RUCHI brand of spices.

Starting from a humble background, Sri Sahoo is now one of the leading manufacturers and exporters of not just quality spices but also of pasta, noodles, ready-to-eat and other innovative food products in the country.

Since 1976, under the tireless leadership of Sri Sahoo, RUCHI has collaborated with various certified manufacturing units abroad to create a niche in India.

For his pioneering entrepreneurship, Sri Sahoo has been honoured with several awards. He was conferred the MSME Excellency Award 2018 in Large Enterprise category by Odisha Government. He was also conferred the Guru Gangadhar SmrutiSamman at Dhauli Kalinga Mahotsav. Shri Sahoo has also received the Best Entreprenuer Award for Ruchi from Union MSME Minister Kalraj Mishra and World Trade Centre MSME Export Achievement Award among many others.

Shri Sahoo also guides industries from the State as Chairman of OASME Committee on Food, Sea-Foods and Confectionery.

 

Jagadananda – Field of Social Service

A former State Information Commissioner, Shri Jagadananda heads Centre for Youth and Social Development (CYSD), an autonomous development organization working with tribal and rural poor in Odisha to realize the goal of people-centered equitable development.

One of the first to work on disaster resilience, Jagadananda was also a champion of RTI way back in mid-2000s when very few knew what the Act was.

Currently, he is the Governing Body Member of Odisha Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) and a member of the Standing Committee at the NITI Aayog.

Jagadananda has held offices as Chairperson, Voluntary Action Network India (VANI), Chair of Credibility Alliance, and is currently the Chair of Sa-Dhan, a national network of Community Development Micro Finance Institutions.

In 2005, he was offered a senior visiting fellowship at CIVICUS-World Alliance for Citizen Participation and worked at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, Cambridge, USA. He has several publications to his credit.

 

Guru Banamali Maharana – Field of Art & Culture

The living legend of Odishan classical music, Guru Banamali Maharana is an exponent who hasgrammatised and formulate the Odissi style in Mardala.

He was inducted into the legendary Odia theatre group ‘Annapurna A’ and had the privilege of extensive training in Tabla as well as OdissiMardala from the likes of Guru Khetra Mohan Kar and SinghariShyam Sundar Kar respectively.

The turning point came when he was sighted by none other than the maestro Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra himself.

A natural artist, Maharana became a teacher of OdissiMardala at the Kala Bikash Kendra, Cuttack from where he switched over the to the Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, Bhubaneswar as Mardala Accompanist.

He went on to be Head of the Department of Mardala until his retirement in 1999.

Krishna Beura – Field of Entertainment

Be it Sufiyana, or be it pop, this playback singer from Odisha – who has created a space for himself in Hindi and Odia cinema – is at ease with all genres. What is more, Krishna Beura can sing in 22 languages including his mother tongue Odia.

Krishna got his first break when he approached Sanjay Dutt who not only liked his singing style but also gave him a chance to sing in four films. Then the Bollywood journey began.

In 2008, he also released his first solo pop album IshqGali Na Jaiyo comprising eight songs. In 2010, popular Indian rock band Bandish collaborated with him for their second self-titled album.

Originally from Kusupangi of Banki in Cuttack, Krishna travelled to different parts of India with his father Shri IndramaniBeura who was an employee of Indian Air Force.

Famous for his mastery on high notes (tar -saptak) in singing and harkats as well as alaaps, he is equally comfortable doing low notes (mandrasaptak). Along with Kailash Kher and Sukhwinder Singh, Krishna is one of the most famous Sufi style playback singers in Bollywood.

Subrat Pani – Field of Entrepreneurship

Mr Subrat Pani is an entrepreneur with a difference. He is co-founder of  OneAssist, India’s leading Insurtech & Consumer assistance platform offering assistance and protection for Wallets, Bank Cards, Mobile, Gadgets and Home appliances.

OneAssist provides a one stop solution to its customers when things go wrong in these areas and that disrupts the daily life.

An entrepreneur, mentor and problem solver, his company OneAssist was able to reach one million subscribers within the first 5 years and still continues to grow in an exponential rate with 1.4 million subscribers now and growing at 250% year on year.

Subrat graduated with BE (Electrical) from NIT Rourkela in 1991, he also is an alumni of IIM Calcutta. He has worked some of world’s biggest multi national companies helping them build up their businesses and products scale dizzying heights.

Subrat who started his entrepreneurial journey in 2011 is passionate about coaching & mentoring young start-ups and entrepreneurs.

 

Dr. Dipak Ranjan Das –  Field of Medical Science

Dr. Dipak Ranjan Das is a cardiologist recognized for his key contribution in medical science and research. Currently he is working as Asst. Professor of Cardiology in SCB Medical College, Cuttack.

An alumni of SCB Medical college, Cuttack & VSS Medical College, Burla, he under-went short term Training in AIIMS, New Delhi.

He has been conferred with the prestigious Fellowships from European Society of cardiology (FESC), Indian College of cardiology (FICC) & Cadiological Society of India (FCSI) in recognition of his contributions to medical science and research.

In acknowledgement of his special efforts, he was conferred with national mentor-ship recognition by the European society of Hypertension.

Sudhir Kumar Raut – Field of Education

Sudhir Kumar Raut has been working in the field of education for around 30 years and in the field of environment for last 9 years.

He is the Founder of Aryabhatta Learning Forum Pvt. Ltd, Aryabhatta Foundation and Forum For Ganjam. The first one imparts coaching in engineering & medical entrance for last 12 years, on zero publicity policy and provides free education with boarding wherever needed to underprivileged selected Odia students. In addition, it provides scholarships for higher studies.

Many poor students including girls are well placed or pursuing higher studies in engineering, medical and research after successfully completing the entrance exams with the help of Aryabhatta Learning Forum and Aryabhatta Foundation.

That apart, Shri Rout has planted around 80,000 trees in Ganjam and created a small natural jungle of around 10 hectares of land by planting 10,000 trees consisting around eighty varieties of trees. Conducts awareness programmes on plantation for last 7 years through the campaign vehicle “SABUJA RATHA”.

This year a unique programme called “PARIVESHA JATTHA” consisting 20 to 25 volunteers went round Ganjam creating awareness on menace of plastic, plantation and water conservation for last one month. He aims at planting at least 50,000 trees this year and does everything from his own income.

Arindam Das – Field of Media

With over a decade of experience behind him, Arindam Das is a well-known name in media circle. He has been working as a journalist in the capital city since March 2005.

Worked with Dharitri from 28th March, 2005 to 29th December, 2009. Then, worked with Sunday Indian, a weekly national magazine. On 7th September 2010, he joined OTV and since then as a reporter, has covered several beats.

Arindam believes adventure is a part of life, so he has thoroughly enjoyed covering many flood-affected regions. And, he has reported from several inaccessible pockets of Odisha.

He played a major role to bring back the abducted Italian tourists from the clutches of the Maoists. During cyclone Phailin and Hudhud, he did his bit as a responsible journalist to save lives using the medium of media.

Though reporting on many issues at the moment, he is currently covering political beat as well as Secretariat developments.

 

Pankaj Bhue – Field of Sports

A para athlete who started his career in 2015, Bhue has bagged 12 medals in athletics in last three years.

In the 16th Senior National Para Athletics in 2016, he picked up two gold medals in long and high jump categories.

In 2017, he went to secure two more golds in 17th Senior National Para Athletic in the same categories. He also scripted his national record of 6.20 metre in long jump in the event.

At the 18th National Para Athletic next year, Bhue bagged silver in 100 meter race and two silvers in both long and high jumps.

He has in his kitty a gold medal in long jump, silver in 200 metre and a bronze in 100 metre race in the INDIAN BLIND SPORTS ASSOCIATION national games in 2016.

Dayanidhi Dadhich – Field of Emerging Talent (Entertainment)

A filmmaker by profession, Daya is one of the youngest entrepreneurs in the field of entertainment in the State. His company, ‘Daya Entertainment’ has been conducting celebrity and event managements.

This young man who juggles among advertisement, fashion ads, wedding planning and events, has an envious repertoire of working with Rajnikant, Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Aditi Singh Sharma, Vivek Oberoi, Mahima Choudhary, Imran Khan, Sonu Nigam, Boman Irani, Dabboo Ratnani and many Ollywood stars.

He has also worked with dignitaries like Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam, Arvind Kejriwal, KrinaBedi and Rajat Sharma.

He was a part of Red Chillies Production and Distribution Company while documenting a short film with Shahrukh Khan ‘THE LIGHTNING OF ODISHA’ and a project of YASHODHARA OBEROI FOUNDATION by Vivek Oberoi.

He has bagged many honours including The Young Entrepreneur of Odisha, Young Achievers Award and many more.

Trinath Patra – Field of Trendsetters

Polio affected Trinath Patra’s life is testimony to the fact that if there is a will, there is a way! Trinath has overcome his limitations to earn his own livelihood and lead a life of dignity.

In his early 30s, Trinath purchased an E Rickshaw on loan some months back and is making a living from ferrying passengers in it. Though he started his journey in Bhubaneswar, probably becoming the first physically challenged in the city to take up this profession, he has now shifted to Puri for more comfortable business prospects.

After running a cycle repairing shop for 10 years, he heard about the E Rickshaw and planned to purchase one. He has a daughter who will soon turn two and he wants to give her a good life and earn more than what he used to earlier.

Trinath’s disability doesn’t deter him from being a perfectionist at his work and he feels happy that passengers barely notice his physical disability.

Kalee Prasana Patnaik – Special Citation (Art)

First Odia student from the State to have graduated in Applied Arts from the prestigious Sir J J school of Applied Arts, Mumbai in 1981.

Patnaik also trains, mentors and guides artisans from Odisha perform better and help them sell their products all over the world.

An expert in spatial design, installations, murals and multi media artworks, Patnaik supports creative students guiding them to crack NIFT and NID entrance exams.

Known as a change-maker, Patnaik has been honoured by the curator of the Royal Ontario Musuem , Toronto and some of his artworks have been taken by the organisation.

A lover of photography who specialises in bird photography, he dabbles in gardening too.
