A 12-member students’ team of California University, USA visited the Odisha Khadi & Village Industries Board office today. The team was led by NRO Professor Annapurna Pandey, Professor of Anthropology.
Invited by Odisha Khadi & Village Industries Board President Tejeswar Parida, the students on reaching the Board premises were welcomed with the medicinal saplings from the herbal garden of Bindu Sagar, which is a brain child of Chief Minister Sri Naveen Patnaik.
President of the Board Mr. Parida presented the students with Gandhi Caps made up of Khadi. Further, the US students purchased items worth Rs. 12, 843 after 30 percent discount. The major items purchased by them including ladies kurtis, pillow covers, wall hangings, khadi shirts, dari, lungi, Indian national flag, gamachha, caneframed patachitra works, etc shall be taken to their homes tomorrow on their return journey. The students have requested OK & VIB to send these items to USA for exhibition and sale. This attempt by OK & VIB is a historic initiation to attract international community towards Odisha Khadi & Village Industries products.
The Board is working on its plan to export Odisha Khadi items like garments, sarees and other Gramodyog products to different countries across the globe.
