Trailer for Kadvi Hawa released : A movie on powerful tale of climate change directed by Nila Madhab Panda


Mumbai, 30th October 2017The captivating first look and trailer of Drishyam Films’ next, the National-Award winning Kadvi Hawa which is slated for a Pan-India theatrical release on 24th November 2017 was unveiled today.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker (Padmashree) Nila Madhab Panda (of I am Kalam fame)Kadvi Hawa is a powerful and heartrending drama that captures the very real threat of climate change. The film stars Ranvir Shorey as a young bank loan recovery agent and Sanjay Mishra as a blind old farmer, two ordinary people fighting for survival in two extreme weather conditions, not of their making. The film also stars Tillotama Shome (Death In The Gunj, Hindi Medium) and Bhupesh Singh (Hum Tum, Masaan).

Kadvi Hawa Synopsis

Once famous for farming, the people of Mahua in Rajasthan have forgotten the scent of rainfall on their soil. Lack of rainfall has led many farmers into debt traps set out as bank loans. Unable to grow food grain anymore and to escape repayments, many farmers have committed suicides. Hedu, the blind father of a farmer finds his son’s life threatened by the same pressure. Gunu Baba, a ruthless bank agent arrives with a growing list of suicides in his wake. But frequent cyclones threaten his family in a coastal village in Odisha. Each wanting to save their own family, they end up helping one another.

About the director:
Nila Madhab Panda, an internationally acclaimed film-maker and social activist has produced and directed over 75 diverse and cutting edge films, documentaries and shorts. Most of his films have unique insights drawn from his own life, the metaphorical distance that he has traversed from a small obscure village to the globe. His first iconic feature film, the highly-acclaimed ‘I am Kalam’ has won 33 International & National awards. His second feature film “Jalpari”, about female foeticide and gender equality, was also well received by the audience and was highly acclaimed. It received the prestigious, MIP Junior award at Cannes 2013. His third feature film ‘Babloo Happy Hai’, based on the youth and HIV/AIDS was also well appreciated by audience and critics in India. His fourth film  ‘Kaun Kitney Paani Main’, a satire on the water crisis in India got released last year. His new feature length documentary is called “God’s Own People” narrated by Mr. Bachchan. His new film ‘Kadvi Hawa’ won a National Award this year, is based on the economic and emotional impact of climate change/global warming. He has started shooting his new children’s film called ‘Halkaa’ which is a sequel of “I am Kalam” based on a child growing up in the slums of Delhi. And Mr. Panda has been honoured with the fourth highest civilian award “PadmaShree” by the President of India in 2016.



Akshay Kumar Parija  

A Harvard Business School, USA alumni, Noted Banker, Businessman and Philanthropist, Akshay Kumar Parija is an avid promoter of  Performing Arts and Culture of Odisha. As a film maker, he gained international recognition for his Odia film “ Jiaanta Bhoota” which won six  awards in International Festivals and  also won the prestigious 56th National Award for the Best Film on Protection/ Conservation of Environment. He sensitively portrayed the exploitation of nature and human beings in the name of development and industrialization. The film also won record seven State Awards including the Mohan Sunder Dev Goswami Award for Best Film.

His second film” Thukul” which dealt with an Odia girl’s strenuous journey into Odishi Dance stardom had won five State Awards, the highest that year.

His third film was a technical marvel “Kehi Nuhen Kahara” which earned immense popularity from audience and termed him as “ Game Changer” of Odiya Film World. The film got record number of Seven State Film Awards including the prestigious Mohan Sunder Dev Goswami Award for Best Film. His  commercial cinema “ Agastya”  was a block buster  in 2016. His latest film “ Bye Bye Dubai” extensively shot in Dubai was a big hit.

The first Hindi language Art House film “ Kadvi Hawa” with Padmashree Nila Madhab Panda  is on an explosive subject of Global Warming and Climatic Change. The film won the 64th National Award on Special Mention Category from President Pranab Mukharjee. His another human centric film “Love You Jessica” on the duality of life style of an actor who finds it difficult to balance her reel life and real life.

He is associated with Nila Madhab Panda for new Hindi film “Halka”on an explosive Children subject. He has also started a new Bengali Film beside another powerful art house film in Odiya.

He also made mega serials like  Sahanai , Aaina, Rani  and Nua Bohu running for years in Odisha besides many popular reality shows.

Globally Mr Parija, living in Dubai is engaged in Shipping in USA, Singapore and Dubai, Logistics in India and Africa, Oil Exploration in Latin America, Hospitality and Consular Services in Dubai and Muscat.

While most of his films and serials are women centric, he has taken Odishi Dance to more than 85 countries in the world with hundreds of aspiring dancers making their first overseas performance thru his forum.
