Nice to see Odisha record above 23% growth in own tax revenue

Notwithstanding the slow growth of economy, Odisha has registered more than 23 percent growth in the own tax revenue collection by the end of November, 2015 in comparison to the corresponding period during 2014, official sources said. Similarly, the state’s plan expenditure has also grown by 26 percent during the period in comparison to the last fiscal. This was the outcome of the secretary level meeting held here under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary A P Padhi. Presenting the updates of the revenue position, Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Finance R Balakrishnan said that own tax revenue up to November, 2015 is satisfactory. “There has been higher collection from stamp duty and registration fees, renewal of mining leases, land revenue, electricity duty and State excise,” he said.
