The opening ceremony of 22nd Asian Athletics Championships (AAC) at Kalinga Stadium on July 5 will witness performance by over 500 artistes. The cultural programme to be held between 6 pm and 8 pm will showcase Odisha’s glorious past, heritage, culture, Buddhist connection with other countries and modern time.
Bollywood singers Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy will perform the ever popular Odia song Rangabati during the inaugural session of the 22nd Asian Athletics Championship.
The makers of the song have given their nod to the state government for a special performance of the song after a meeting with Sambalpur district collector today. Earlier, the composer and original singers of the song had refused to give permission for its performance and had also raised their voice against its use.
