Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today thanked the Odisha government for providing immediate help to people in the cyclone-hit coastal districts of the State.

“I appreciate the Odisha Government’s help. Their rescue teams have done an excellent work,”

He said the administration in various districts did an excellent job in bringing back normalcy after cyclone ‘Hudhud’ caused large-scale devastation in coastal areas last Sunday.

The Government will organise a function after normalcy is fully restored and reward the personnel who did a good job in aftermath of the natural calamity, the Chief Minister said.            Meanwhile, Director General of Odisha Fire Service, Home Guards and Civil Defence M Nageswara Rao told PTI that immediately after getting instructions from Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, their rescue teams left for cyclone-affected districts.

He said 453 fire personnel and 106 members from Odisha disaster force left on the midnight of October 12 and reached Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam.

The rescue teams reached the cyclone-hit places in 60 vehicles with necessary equipment, solar lamps and sufficient food, including water, milk, biscuits and dry fruits.

Rao said after the ‘super cyclone’ in 1999 the Odisha government had established a good number of fire stations with sufficient staff in all the districts and important towns.
