I am Dr ( Col ) V P Singh . I was born and educated in Odisha . After completing MD ( Gen Med ) from VSS Medical College , Burla in 1985 I joined Indian Army . After serving long years as physician in different locations, a 3 yrs stint in Botswana ( Southern Africa ), participation in UN peace keeping in Mozambique , and being Professor of Medicine in prestigious Armed Forces Medical College , Pune , I took premature retirement in 2011 , and am presently heading a private medical University.
I am also a celebrated Hindi poet and known for my Nationalistic – patriotic poetry . My collection of poems ” Raktanjali ” written with Kargil war as the background, was released by the then Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2001 on first Kargil Vijay Diwas . I have done innumerable recitations in prestigious Kavi Sammelans in India , many programmes abroad , and have received several awards for contribution to Hindi literature .
Though away from Odisha for more than three decades , the fragrance and spirit of the state has always remained within me . Odisha has given me everything, including my lovely wife , Utkala . All that I have achieved , all that I have in life today , I owe all of them to Odisha .
As a small homage to my Utkal Janani I have created this presentation,” Odisha , the abode of divinity – a poetic tribute ” . I place it at the feet of Lord Jagannath and dedicate it every one who has a love for the cultural heritage of Odisha.
