This year the 22nd edition of the Championship is being held at the world-class athletics arena of Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The association has carefully chosen the famous and endangered Olive ridley turtle (named as Olly) as their mascot to spread awareness about the sea turtle among people.
The opening ceremony will take place on 5th July 2017 while the races will begin on 6th July 2017. The 4-day sports extravaganza will witness participation from more than 700 athletes from 45 countries who will take part in 42 events (21 for men and 21 for women). The winners will directly qualify for the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) World Championships in Athletics to be held in London between August 4 and 13.
