Mark Hager has been appointed as the new coach of the Kalinga Lancers for the this edition of Hockey India League- 2016 to be played January 18-February 21.

Former Australian hockey star Hager with 230 caps and 179 goals to his name, has been coaching the New Zealand women’s team since 2009.

Here are some of his achievements:

Mark William Hager (born 28 April 1964 in Maryborough, Queensland) is a former field hockey player from Australia, who competed in two Summer Olympics for his native country. After the fourth place in 1988 he won the bronze medal with The Kookaburras at the1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia.

Following his playing career, Hager has been pursuing a coaching career in the sport. His achievements as a coach include:

In December 2008, Hager was appointed the coach of the New Zealand women’s national field hockey team (the Black Sticks Women).
