Asian Athletics Championship : All you need to know about restricted vehicular movement in the city

The commissionerate police on Sunday issued a public notice imposing restrictions on movement of vehicles on three roads near Kalinga Stadium, the venue for the Asian Athletics Championships, on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the event on July 5. “The move aims to ensure smooth flow of traffic as also for the convenience of people because a huge crowd is expected during the opening ceremony,” said twin city police commissioner Y B Khurania.

As per the notice, no vehicle will be allowed to ply on Bidyut Marg from Jaydev Vihar stretching to Sastri Nagar crossing and vice-versa between 3pm and 10pm on July 5. Vehicles coming from Nalco square side will be diverted at Jaydev Vihar crossing towards Acharya Vihar. Similarly, vehicles coming from 120 Battalion crossing towards Jaydev Vihar square will be diverted at Sastri Nagar intersection towards Sachivalaya Marg.

Restriction has been imposed on the movement of vehicles on the service lane by the side of NH-16 from Acharya Vihar to Jaydev Vihar from 3pm to 7pm on the day. The police have also restricted vehicular movement from Behera Sahi Chak to Nicco Park Chak and vice-versa from 10am to10pm on Wednesday as this road will be used for parking of vehicles. However, this regulation will not be applicable to vehicles with passes for entry through Gate-2 and Gate-8 of the Kalinga Stadium.
