Smt.Sudhira Das was the first Lady Engineer of Odisha. She was born in an aristocratic family of Cuttack on March 8,1932. She had an extreme passion for Mathematics since childhood.She graduated from Ravenshaw College in 1951.Then she did M.Sc(Tech) in Radio Physics and Electronics from University of Science and Technology,Calcutta (Now Kolkata) in 1956.This came at the time when education for girls was still considered a taboo. She then joined as a lecturer,Science and Mathematics in Berhampur,Engineering School in 1957.Later she joined as Principal at Women’s Polytechnic,Rourkela.Her greatest contribution was the establishment of the Women’s Polytechnic at Bhubaneswar in 1978.She breathed her last on 30th October 2015 at the age of 83.
