Oscar-winning sound mixer and editor, Resul Pookutty has dubbed in Hindi for the first time for director Ananth Mahadevan’s upcoming film Gour Hari Dastan: The Freedom File. The film stars Vinay Pathak as the Oriya freedom fighter Gour Hari Das while Konkona Sen Sharma plays his wife. Pookutty who is a Malayali, was approached by Mahadevan to dub for one of the major characters in the film. Talking about his experience, Pookutty says, “Frankly, I was under the impression that Ananth was pulling a fast one on me when he asked me to dub a line for an intense scene in the film. But when I realised that he was serious, I was taken aback; more since he wanted me to dub in Hindi. I was wary because I have a strong Malayalam accent. But Ananth was fine with it. His argument was that there were several Malayalees in Mumbai who spoke like me.”

The film revolves around the real life story of freedom fighter Gour Hari Das who has been struggling to get a freedom fighter’s certificate that would establish his involvement in India’s freedom struggle. The film also stars Ranvir Shorey and Divya Dutta in pivotal roles.
