five Odia films have been nominated for the 62nd National Film Awards. Films from different genres such as ‘Adim Bichar’, ‘Krantidhara’, ‘Capital I’, ‘Bhaunri’ and ‘Suka Asuchi’ are in the race to get the most coveted award.

‘Adim Bichar’ is a film based on a century-old story written by Kapileswar Prasad Mohaptra, father of film director Sabyasachi Mohapatra.

‘Krantidhara’, a feature film directed by Himanshu Khatua, portrays the life of a woman politician, played by Gargi Mohanty, when she faces the male-dominant society.

Bhubaneswar based Amartya Bhattacharyya’s debut feature film ‘Capital I’, a coming-of-age film, narrates varied human emotions in a surreal way. The film has been entirely shot with a DSLR camera and has a very tight budget.

‘Bhaunri’, directed by Sudhanshu Mohan Sahoo, narrates the love story of a tribal boy and a tribal girl with a strong message – solving issues through non-violence.
