Introducing Udipta Kumar Rath: Only Rider from Odisha to take part in National Motorcycle Racing Championship

Here are some details about Udipta Kumar Rath, the only rider to represent odisha in National Motorcycle Racing Championship being organised by FEDERATION OF MOTORSPORTS CLUB OF INDIA.

After finishing 3rd in overall  national championship for TVS ONE MAKE CHAMPIONSHIP 2015,  this year he was promoted to expert category which is called open class in FMSCI regulations.

He is currently taking part in SUZUKI GIXXER CUP INDIA 2016 ORGANISED BY SUZUKI MOTORCYCLES INDIA WITH FEDERATION OF MOTORSPORTS CLUB OF INDIA AND MADRAS MOTORSPORTS CLUB.

The opening round was at KARI MOTOR SPEED WAY, COIMBATORE, the 2.1km, smallest but technical track of the session, where in the first race of expert category he managed to finish 10th which was a satisfactory result.

The round 2 and round 3 happened at the so called home track of Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship “MADRAS MOTOR RACE TRACK, CHENNAI” (3.717 kms).

In round 2 it was of 3 races that weekend. Despite of worst track conditions and personal injury he managed to finish 13th , 14th, and 10th in the 3 races.

Running out of championship point table, in round 3 he was well back in form where qualified 8th on the grid. In race 1 he had finished 4th with a tight battle for podium. Also he was the second fastest on the track that day. In race 2 he lost few positions in early battle and could not find a way to front. After an equally tight race as round 1, finished 6th on the race he was finally inside the championship table with some most valuable points for the session championship.

Currently he stands 10th on the point table after 3 rounds finished and 2 more rounds to come with 4 races remaining . Mathematically its still possible to dig in the championship table , hoping he will put his  best in the upcoming races, definitely aiming to the first place.

As its his  first year in open class, it took him some time to get settled with the bike and needed to adopt more aggressive riding style. But now he looks ready enough with the fight for podium in remaining  4 races of the session.

Finally the National Motorcycle Racing Championship arrives at BUDDHA INTERNATIONAL CIRCUIT(5.13 kM), greater noida for the 4th round of the session.

The championship will take part along with ASIAN ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIP 2015 , on SEPT 29, 30, and oct 1st and 2nd which will be a great show down there. The final round of the session is scheduled at MMRT CHENNAI, on the month of December.

Talking about the 2017 session, he is full ready to take a step forward with an independent team representing Odisha in the National Motorcycle Racing Championship and racing in the highest class of National Motorcycle Racing Championship that is upto 400 cc super sport category. The deal is pretty open now about all things, starting from manufacturer to sponsorship programmes. So he is expecting some organisations and entrepreneurs to take their interest in Motorsports, so that he can really claim  the national championship for our state.
