AIIMS Bhubaneswar, is adjudged as second best hospital among category B hospitals of the country for cleanliness. The institute will get an award of Rs 1 crore for this performance.
It will get this fund under Kayakalp Award scheme launched by Union ministry of health and family welfare.
The awards are selected on the basis of rigorous process including internal assessment and peer assessment followed by external assessment. Basis of the selection was facility upkeep, sanitation and hygiene, waste management, infection control, support services, hygiene promotion and feedback mechanism from public on cleanliness.
Hospitals were categorized into two groups as A and B based on a standard criteria. The awards are aimed at promoting high degree of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control practices in health care facilitiles and to inculcate a culture ongoing assessment peer review of performance related to hygiene cleanliness and sanitation.
