AIIMS bhubaneswar completes 5 years : Announces increase in Operation theatres, ICUs, new canteen etc

As many as 30 modular operation theaters (OTs) will get operational in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences AIIMS Bhubaneswar within a year. Patients will not wait for their turn to go under knife after these OTs get see the light of the day.
Now the institute, which completed five years on Saturday, has eight regular operation theatres. Six general OTs function between 8 am to 7pm daily, while emergency OTs function round the clock.

According to AIIMS Bhubaneswar Dr Gitanjali Batmanabane, the institute has set a target to complete 25 modular OTs within 200 days and other five OTs in next 200 days. These OTs will have latest technology, she added.
“We have started installation work of the OTs in our hospital. Building and interiors are ready. We will see a full-fledged OT within a year,” she added.
The existing eight OTs are catering services for 12 surgical departments. “With this, number of operations is expected to touch around 1000 per month. But the number will go up after installation of the 30 modular OTs. We may cross 2000 surgeries per month,” said AIIMS Bhubaneswar superintendent Dillip Kumar Parida.
