Even as preparation is underway for observing the first international Yoga Day on Sunday, Odisha will celebrate it in a unique style.

Surfing Yogis, the group which has been promoting surfing along the Odisha coast, is all set to organise yoga on water. Normal yoga asanas will be performed on stand up paddle.

Yoga enthusiasts have been invited to take part in performing yoga on water of the Kushabhadra river near Rama Chandi on the Puri-Konark marine drive. Expert practitioners of Surfing Yogis will remain present to guide enthusiasts.

“What we propose to do is unique in itself. Yoga on water involves all natural elements including land, water and sunshine,” said Surfing Yogis founder Sanjay Samantray.

The Odisha government will observe the State level International Yoga Day at Kalinga Stadium.

The Mass Education department has instructed all district education officers to encourage and motivate students to participate in yoga demonstrations between 7.00 and 7.35 on Sunday morning.
